Agreed.  The average user will not see the binary name at all, so it's
fine if it's lowercase.  The advanced user will appreciate not having
the annoyance of having to hit shift before typing the name from a
terminal.

Thunar and Terminal install a symlink to the lowercase version, which
needs to be special-cased because this creation will fail on
filesystems that aren't case sensitive.  There's really zero benefit to
an initial capital letter, and at least one annoying problem (and
maybe more!).
