outdated version or buggy panel??

The icons should move a little, but not disappear entirely, since
changing the panel position changes the available "work area".  Works
fine for me here.  If you can get more information (is xfdesktop
crashing?  gdb backtrace?  is it still running, and the icons just
disappeared?), please file a bug.
