Not really, Jasper already finished rewriting the panel
quite some time ago :)
Plus, the task list widget is not part of the panel source code (the
plugin is just boilerplate for a widget from libxfcegui4)...

netk-tasklist.* is the widget that shows the tasks in a list-like way.
netk-screen.* is a non-widget object that can be used to enumerate screen
contents from the point of view of the window manager. Note that you can do
that in any program, not just within the window manager.
And we have a facility in Xfce Settings that allows you to associate
keyboard shortcuts with shell commands.
Should be enough to get you started :)
