Good idea, just need someone to make that. 
Also, I will suggest to use a wrapper to make that, like the python bindings or even the XFC.
I'm saying that because xfce has some bindings now and it would be nice to use them, but since 
i'm not writing the app myself, it's not up to me to decide.
