Well, upon further reflection, I don't  :)

The original reasoning was to adhere as closely as possible to 
the Slackware standard of placing docs in /usr/doc/$PRGNAM, but 
looking back at previous versions of xfce revealed that they 
didn't necessarily follow this either.  To make a long story 
short, I've concluded that it's better to leave that option 
alone.  Thanks for the reinforcement!  :)
