Hey all,
A few people have asked for functionality in xfwm4 to make inactive
windows translucent and keep the active, focused window opaque. That's
probably not gonna happen, so I hacked up a little app to do it. It's
pretty rough, but you can grab it here:
http://spuriousinterrupt.org/files/xfce4/trans-inactive.c
There are compilation instructions at the top of the file, and you have
to edit a #define if you want an inactive transparency of something
other than 20%. Otherwise, just run it in the background and leave it
alone. If you have more than one screen (non-Xinerama), it won't work
on anything but the primary screen. Sorry.
Note that if you're using my 'transd' app, you should probably kill it.
They won't play nicely together. At some point I may integrate this
functionality into transd as an option.
Normal Brian's One-Off Crap Software rule applies: if it works, good for
you; if not, send me a patch or complain to /dev/null. Sometimes it may
die with a BadWindow error. I'll fix it later.
