Terminal icon issue

I know .. there's probably something broken over here but I need to be
pointed into the general direction of the error:

All the nested stock icons (Screenshot at [1]) are broken. They are not
displayed. However, any other icon rendering application like the
panel, thunar or the settings manager is working correctly.

Any hints here?
