Yep, it's entirely app dependent. The app needs to watch for the
systray disappearing, and then watch for it to reappear, and create a
new item.
Actually, in the current implementation I'm using for xfmedia, as soon
as the systray disappears, the old item gets destroyed, and a new one
created immediately. When the systray reappears, the widget finally
finds a plug to embed into, and all is well.
Frankly, I think it's a sucky model. We should write a better
XfceSystrayItem widget...
