The problem is the same that Olivier mentioned with highlighting in the
WM.  Because of theming, I pretty much have to use GTK_STATE_SELECTED as
the highlight color.  If it's just highlighted, then it'll look the same
as icons selected by the mouse.

There might be some other options, though...  Suggestions?
