There was some discussion on the wiki earlier. I've separated the user 
interface discussion: 
http://xfce.wikicities.com/wiki/Panel_User_Interface . It shows the 
prototype for the original one-dialog-to-rule-them-all approach and 
there's also an alternative suggestion.

Anyone feel free to add suggestions, on the mailing list or on the wiki.
