Hi all,

Pasi and I have been working on the new mail watcher plugin for the
panel, and it's in a state where it's actually pretty usable now.
Currently supported is IMAP (SSL/TLS and plaintext), and local mbox and
maildir spools. POP3 support is forthcoming; just neither of us has
gotten around to it yet. It supports multiple mailboxes of different
types (or the same types), and the IMAP support allows you to tell it to
check for new messages in folders other than the Inbox (unfortunately,
for now you have to use strings like 'INBOX.lists.gtk' for folder
hierarchies).

Anyway, if people could start testing it, that would be great. Please
file bugs and feature requests at http://bugzilla.xfce.org/ ('Xfce Panel
Plugins' product, 'mailwatch' component). You can get it from Xfce SVN
like so:

svn co \
    http://svn.foo-projects.org/svn/xfce/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin/trunk \
    xfce4-mailwatch-plugin

(That should all be on one line, obviously.)

You'll need xfce4-dev-tools to build it, available with a similar
command as above (I think you can figure it out ^_~).

The usual will do it:

./autogen.sh --prefix=(/your/xfce/prefix)
make
make install

Thanks!
