I guess the last time I started kicker was around KDE 3.1, so no, never 
seen that before.

So I just ran kicker, and wow, what an effect. Very impressive on first 
sight. But I can imagine that it gets annoying very, very soon, atleast 
if it takes that long to pop up.

Maybe we can first import the stuff into xfce4-panel first and see if we 
really want that. I think we have too much unused (or soon unused) 
functionality in libxfcegui4 already.
