It's actually irrelevent whether it's fullscreen or not. The split
screen is handy either way for two reasons:
* It makes easier to manage the windows. I don't have to worry about
overlaps, they both (or all if more than 2) move at the same time, etc.
* On my 1024x768 14" laptop, I hate to waste real estate on redunant
window decorations.

I just wanted to point out that it is theoretically possible to solve it
that way too. ;-)
