Desktop icon support

Hi,

I'm currently thinking(!!) about enhancing xfdesktop to use desktop
icons. Can someone get me a hint on where to start or where to get
information? I just want to know if I would be able to do it, before I
start doing it.
I'm not sure if looking a the existing code will get me enough
information, because I read once on this list that code should not
contain comments.
So, who can give me a hint? Or a code sample? Or anything usefull on how
to get into XFCE development?
