For those just wanting audio and not video I'd recommend music player 
daemon. The idea is to separate out the audio playing into a backend, 
and then multiple frontends can be defined to control the player. gmpc 
works pretty nicely with XFCE.
Not really the same as xfmedia but I thought I'd mention it.
