is Xfce getting too bloated ?

What I've done is just kill everything I didn't want (Konqui), and
then logout, saving the new session as you do. Then log back in to an
"empty session"

Alternatively you could wipe ~/.cache/sessions, and then log out and
in NOT saving the session
