This is a fontconfig error, caused by a wrong "local.conf" configuration file.

<!-- /etc/fonts/local.conf file for local customizations -->

The local.conf is a file to be used as a local customization for fontconfig. Since it has errors in it, fontconfig will probably not returned the expected font and that craches vte, the terminal emulator widget used by xfce-terminal.

Please fix your "local.conf" file (usually located in /etc/fonts/local.conf) - It even tells you where, at what line the error reside.
