thanks olivier.  i suppose they aren't critical, but i just noticed the 
first one while doing something totally unrelated, and benny and i just 
noticed the second one that could have been causing (well, not causing, 
but related to) bug 494.

anyway, as you say, less of a reason to do more RCs...
