No, the clients are killed once all clients finished saveyourself phase1 and 
phase2. You can see what the sm is doing by setting the env variable 
XFSM_VERBOSE prior to starting the session manager. It'll then write the file 
.xfce4-session.verbose-log in your home dir, telling you what the sm is doing 
right now.
