Ok, then please make sure the m4 files of gtkdoc and pkgconfig are found by 
aclocal (for example, if the gtkdoc m4 file is not found, you'll get something 
like syntax error near unexpected token GTK_DOC_CHECK, the exact message 
depends on what shell you use to run configure).
