Jasper,

I think I found where the problem lies, the panel position is not saved
anymore:

[ofourdan at shuttle ofourdan]$ cat .xfce4/settings/panel.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE mcs-option SYSTEM "mcs-option.dtd">

<mcs-option>
        <option name="autohide" type="int" value="0"/>
        <option name="layer" type="int" value="0"/>
        <option name="orientation" type="int" value="0"/>
        <option name="popupposition" type="int" value="1"/>
        <option name="size" type="int" value="1"/>
        <option name="theme" type="string" value="Curve"/>
</mcs-option>

Cheers,
Olivier.
