The problem with the so called "KDE trayicon protocol" is that for a
working implementation, support from the window manager is required.
And since no one of us wants to modify xfwm4 to add support for
foreign protocols, you'll need workarounds to get things done. My KDE
compat patch does not work in every case and I consider it to be
unstable, cause its more a workaround than a solution. So I say, wait
for KDE to fix their applications and support only standard protocols
with XFce.

Its quite easy to be done, but its somewhat hard to figure out whats
necesarry to get things done, since KDE - and esp. the tray protocol -
is hardly documented.
