There is also the multitail gdesklet:

It just started up, and I haven't tried it out yet (my work box doesn't
have gdesklets installed and it's been a few days since I've trolled the
new displays at home).  It also doesn't have the colorizing bits from
root-tail, but it's in progress so I'm sure it'll come sometime.
