That's because the current version of KDE doesn't follow the system tray
standard of freedesktop.org but it's own standard. That's because the
freedesktop.org standard is younger than KDE2 where the system tray
standard of KDE was introduced. I think they will change this in future.

However, there's a patch written by Benedikt Meurer which integrates KDE
system tray applications in the taskbar or system tray of xfce4. Here it

You might apply this patch.
