Changing keyboard

I have a non xfce related problem with matlab where matlab will hang
when receiving keys with meta-modifiers (as the ^ in my portuguese
keyboard layout). I can change the keymap with setxkbmap to US keymap
and the problem goes away. But i have read that at least windowmaker
supports different keymaps to different applications, i would like to
know if this is possible in xfce, and if not would you consider adding
this?
