Ok. Let's leave them as strings. Otherwise I would have to change too
much code. Anyways, the plugin gui can always change the values to
strings before sending them through the channel.
I tried to put the yes/no values as checkbuttons, but it looked rather
ugly (you can see what I came up with by uncommenting the code in the
plugin source).

It was in there, but it was reading the wrong file. I've got it fixed
now and besides saving values, it makes sure SMB_USER is not saved and
is wiped out of memory when the dialog closes. It also fills in the
environment values with the default values. The plugin seems to work OK
now. Or maybe I'm tired.
