xfsamba4 on FreeBSD-5.1

Ok, I finally got my box running with FreeBSD 5.1 and can confirm that
the samba navigation does not work. Not only that but also nonfunctional
are the find utility, the fstab branch, the pkg_add command and in fact
every thing else which requires processing data from a pipe.

Pipes work ok, because command line "fgr" works. The problem seems to be
with pipes in gtk.

This is with distribution gtk-2.2.1_1.tbz.

Any clues or pointers will be greatly appreciated...
