Sorry, "proper" was perhaps a strong word to use. =)

But it is the behavior I've observed in Enlightenment, xfce3, and the old
xfce4. Licq will raise itself, but not focus. I should fire up a few
other WMs and see what happens.

The reason I don't think it's the right behavior is that, typically, the
main Licq window gains focus when I'm in the middle of typing a Licq
message. So all my keystrokes now go to the main Licq window and wreak
havoc on it, popping up various dialogs, changing settings, etc. before I
realize what's happened and refocus to my Licq message window. It makes
it very difficult to use the program when I'm trying to hold a
conversation and the focus keeps switching out from under the window in
which I'm typing.

On the code bits, I didn't mean to imply that those were the misbehaving
functions, I was just asking for clarification on the program structure.
I figured I'd take a look and see if I couldn't fix the problem myself
before I posted to the list, but I got a little lost in the code. =)
Familiarity with GTK2 and GLIB would probably help.

Particularly, I sometimes think it would be useful to turn on the TRACE()
calls to see what's going on.

I'll have to go check out the latest CVS. =)
