Hi,
perhaps it is not the correct setting. If your screen has a DICOM mode
and is set to use this mode, then the brightness settings are
irrelevant. A hairline fracture on an x-ray should not become invisible
just because the doctor wants to dim the screen.
If your screen has various ECO automations, it can be difficult to set
it correctly.
My EIZO display offers a DICOM mode and various ECO automations.
DICOM is very, very bright and bluish.
When I set up the ECO auto, I initially got seemingly random jumps
between too bright and too dark, but now it's set perfectly for almost
all work except drawing and photography.
For drawing and photography it should be possible to switch the ECO
stuff on and off in the user profiles, but this is apparently not
offered. For "normal" work, however, my monitor is now unbeatable, no
matter what the lighting conditions in the room are, the display is
automatically dimmed to the point I want it to be, without any unwanted
side effects.
For a while I had problems with Krita's color profiles, so I had to
choose a totally exotic profile to get the image halfway correct, but
now the plain sRGB profile works perfectly.

Ralf
