localized thunar?

GOT IT! :-)

There was already a thunar running (Thunar --daemon) and when I call
thunar via bash a child from this daemon is spawned, keeping its original
environment.

The solution is: killing the daemon process and starting a new thunar
with the wanted locale environment!
