mouse back -- he bent something and his mouse quit working.  Mouse back has to do with restoring lost mouse function(s)

Have no idea what chvt 2 means; that key isn't on my keyboard  But ctl-alt-f2 works here -- I watched my screen go from xfce to CLI and back before I suggested he try it

And I did it as a mortal, not root.
