I've done a couple of rolling upgrades, my original install media was
Squeeze. :) I'll have to grab a live distro for Jessie, one of those
many things requiring a round tuit.

Possibly so - but the problem with Sid for me is the insane rate at
which the updates come through, at least they did when I tried Sid in
a VM. Our power supply is so unreliable I don't like running the PC
unattended, so short of my turning nocturnal, we're back to the
bandwidth allocation and the anti-social hours for the unmetered
window as the problem. There are only two houses on this road which
are out of reach (due to topography) of *both* of the local wireless
ISPs, and I'm one of the lucky two. :( I'm stuck with satellite for
the foreseeable future - I would change in a heartbeat if I ever had a
viable alternative.
