It's not unusual, here the default for the source codes is 10$, but
you're free to donate nothing: http://community.ardour.org/s/source

Pre-build: http://ardour.org/download.html

IMO there's nothing wrong with it, so coders can spend more time to
write professional software for Linux. Much free as in beer Linux
software isn't really professional, when there's nobody giving money.

The given link to the source code is free as in beer by default:

http://gottcode.org/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin-1.3.0-src.tar.bz2 http://gottcode.org/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin-1.3.0-src.tar.bz2.as

So your claim isn't correct ;).

FWIW there's also nothing wrong, when not donating, if there's the
choice to do so and most distros provide good software for free as in
beer by packages or ports to automagically build it.

Regards,
Ralf
