Akonadi and Nepomuk

Recently, when I was writing about my move to either Maya Xfce or
Xubuntu, I asked about akonadi and nepomuk. I said that one main reason
for the move was to get away from those packages. I was told that they
are KDE packages and should not appear with Xfce.

Well, I finally went for Mint Maya Xfce and it has gone very well.
However, when checking just now I found that those packages seem to be
installed. So it seems that Mint includes them with Xfce.

So my questions are, is it safe to remove them? If not, how can I be
sure that they are not running and wasting resources?

I have checked via ps -e and I see that both akonadi_agent_1 and
nepomukservices are listed but both with the time showing zero.

As far as I can see I have no use for them at all.

Thanks

Neil
