NAK from me.  For those of us who are distro packagers, it's nice
to be able to address user issues *and* get release notifications
in one place.  Even better, there is often some followup discussion
about releases that likely wouldn't take place if it were on an 
announce-only list.

Your mail client probably has a way to filter mail having "ANNOUNCE" 
in the subject to the trash automatically, and if it doesn't, you 
need a decent mail client.
