It allows to _quickly_ access your favourite bookmarks. A menu bar
takes up vertical space, which is scarce on small laptops/netbooks,
while the speed dial is integrated into every new tab that you open.
Opera pioneered the concept, and I bet they have a pageful of
marketing on the subject.
