Volume keys not working properly

When activated, it shows something similar I already have on the taskbar
and works there. No effect on the multi-media keys.

I did not have that installed and I sure did not remove it. It used to
work perfectly in the beginning. I added it and ran it. See the results
below. Weird stuff.

Never tried them before and when I did with 10.4 it worked and then it
stopped.

Those I had as well, but nothing.

Now somthing very strange is happening. I also have three monitors not in
Xinerama

When I have an active window on the first screen then the keys work. I
have the Mixer plugin on the first screen. When I have NO active program
in the first screen, then it does NOT work. 

Somehow what I think is that while the keys are recognised as being
pressed (Otherwise I would not see the big icon) they are somehow not
passed on to whatever it was that previously handled the key-press.
