   I'll return with results when I have more information to share. I'll try a
different desktop/window manager and see if that makes a difference. The
issue is certainly specific to the newest version of X and/or xfce as it's
never happened before. I'll also fire up my notebook (running the same
distribution version), work on it a while and see if it happens there. Brand
new hardware so I doubt that's the issue.

   Anyway, back when I have more.
