Patching the panel

A patch for the panel is available from:

Hope you can forgive yet another beginners question.

How exactly does one go about applying this patch, I've no idea what
to do with the "diff" file.

I'm guessing it's applied to the original source code then you build again.

The exact command would be helpful.
