How to sort Desktop Elements

Hi all,

 

I have several machines to work with Xubuntu 9.10 and have restricted
certain things in them, such not to alter what is on the desktop (delete or
create files, directories or shortcuts), however, some users hid the
shortcuts that I leave, but I see in  a terminal they still there, so, I
don’t find how to sort them again in the desktop, Could you help me?. In
fact I could never see how to sort them by name, type or other
characteristic.
