cant set background image as user

I have reinstalled my Gentoo and expected to get rid of an old problem I 
had: I couldnt set an image or list of images as desktop background. But 
guess waht, the problem persist, but I found that as root, I have no 
such problem, just as regular user. Tried deleting all xfce config in 
.config, but seems I missed something. Any idea about whats happening?
