xfce4-mixer memory corruption

After updating recently, I noticed that xfce4-mixer no longer works.
Glib now complains about a memory corruption:

All the other xfce4 programs seem to be OK, alsa-mixer and amixer both
work fine.  Any ideas what's wrong with xfce4-mixer?
