Hi Joost,
We're a bit behind on the HAL package update needed for all of this to
play together nicely in -current, but since you're on 12.2, it wouldn't
matter anyway. I really should update my site with a reference to what
I'm about to write... :-)
Place the contents of this file:
http://slackware.com/~rworkman/hal.conf.txt
in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf and make sure your user account is in
the "power" group.
For thunar-volman, make sure you have to 0.3.80 version installed from
my repo (as opposed to the older 0.2 or whatever version for
xfce-4.4.x), and then be sure your user is in the "plugdev" group.
Easiest thing to do after all that is to reboot, but leaving X and
restarting the messagebus service, logging out completely, then logging
back in should make all this work as expected.
