About two or three years ago I wrote a little script for me which pulls
the sources from the SVN repo and then compile them.
See http://uvena.de/#building-svn-version-of-xfce4.
However, it is intended to be used with the SVN version not with
tarballs. But maybe you can use it as a base for an own version.
