add-remove programs missing

I take it you are using Xubuntu? ;-)

I've attached my gnome-app-install.desktop, you should be able to save that
in /usr/share/applications after which it should re-appear in the menu (if
you don't see it right away, you can execute "sudo
update-desktop-database").
