Command to reset the mailwatch icon?

I can't get it to work. After retrieving mail from remote POP server 
with Thunderbird:

$ pgrep -l mailwatch
3617 xfce4-mailwatch
 
$ pkill -SIGUSR2 mailwatch

Nothing happens. No checking of mail, no change to icon until normal 
timeout. I'm running mailwatch plugin 1.1.0
