colors in terminal

Hi,

I use black background in terminal, and when I connect to a host via
ssh, I always see dirs in dark blue.
I know I could modify ls color alias in remote hosts, but I was
wondering if there's any way in terminal to change it, I mean, modify
colors like dark blue -> yellow or something similar.
