Setting custom icon for panel plugin in xfce4-mcs-manager does not work

Hi.
I have a rather odd situation here: I did specify a file named
48x48/apps/xfce4-panel.png in my icontheme and this icon is correctly used for
xfce4-panel-manager.desktop. It is also displayed in the head of the
configuration window.
But the panel plugin within xfce4-mcs-manager still shows up with the default
icon, no matter what I try. I restarted xfce4-mcs-manager multiple times but to
no avail. Any idea what’s wrong?
Regards, Mathias
