Are you running some special security setup, like SELinux, grsec, etc.?

Two things you need to do:

1.  We can't support packages made by other people.  You should get in
touch with Kevin Fenzi and see if this might be package-related.

2.  Try an official xfce.org package (either compiling from the source
tarballs, or the graphical installer).  If you're able to get this to
work, it's definitely a packaging problem.  If not, it might be an Xfce
problem.
