via the Desktop Settings panel.

The algorithm for calculating the cell size based on icon and text sizes
changed.  It has nothing to do with a difference between the left and
right side of the screen; it just depends on how many cells you can fit
across the screen without having a partial cell on the right.  (The
top-left corner of the screen is considered the origin.)
